Zwei-Gipfel-Tour Wachberg und Tanzplan ab Sebnitz – hike
From the bus station, the Dr.-Alfred-Meiche-Weg first leads up the Wachberg (496 metres), where the Wachbergbaude stands right at the summit. A forest track then takes you across the national border into Czech territory and on uphill to the Tanzplan, known in Czech as Tanečnice. At 597 metres, it is the highest point of the tour. At the summit you will find a lookout tower from 1905 and a restaurant; the view stretches far across Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland. The return route follows the yellow trail marking via Vilémov and the Kaiserberg with the Spitzbergsicht back to Sebnitz. The paths are mostly wide and firm, but steeper and stony near the summit.
Tip: Please bring an ID document for the border crossing. In winter the paths are not cleared of snow; the tour is not recommended when there is black ice, in which case winter shoes, walking poles and ice grips are a good idea.
