Von Stadt Wehlen über den Steinernen Tisch zur Bastei – hike
From the station, take the ferry across the Elbe and walk past the Wehlen castle ruins into the Wehlener Grund. This is followed by the Zscherregrund and the Höllengrund, cool, species-rich gorges with narrow paths. Via the Steinerner Tisch rest area you reach the Bastei with the Basteibrücke. The way back leads along the Schwarzbergweg to Stadt Wehlen. The circuit is technically easy, but because of the sum of all the climbs it calls for a bit of stamina.
Tip: The tour runs through the national park, and dogs must be kept on a lead. At weekends and on public holidays the Basteibrücke in particular is very crowded. Storm damage in the area between Bastei and Rathen may affect individual paths.
