Tharandter Wald: Jagdschloss Grillenburg und Burgruine Tharandt – hike
From the forest car park, wide forest tracks lead in about an hour and a half to Grillenburg with its hunting lodge and the pond where you can swim in summer. The second stage runs along forest tracks and a woodland path on the edge of the Weißeritz valley to Tharandt and takes about two and a half hours. In Tharandt, the castle ruins with picnic spots, the palace and the Forstbotanischer Garten are well worth a stop. From the town you need about another half hour back to the car park. The tour runs almost entirely through woodland, which makes it pleasant even on hot days.
