Schloss Kuckuckstein und Kleine Bastei im Seidewitztal – hike
The circuit starts in the centre of Liebstadt at the 15th-century Gothic church, which still has its Renaissance pulpit. From the Rote Vorwerk, the Roter Busch path leads up to the Kleine Bastei, a rocky outcrop around 80 metres above the river with views into the Seidewitztal. You then head down into the valley and back up once more to Schloss Kuckuckstein, which stands about 30 metres above the town and was first mentioned in 1410; Napoleon took up quarters here in 1813. The way back follows the valley floor to Liebstadt. The surface alternates between forest paths on the slopes and firm tracks in the valley.
