Modrá trasa Jílové – Děčín (Blauer Weg von Jílové nach Děčín) – hike
The blue-marked trail begins on the market square in Jílové, next to the château and its park, and leads up to the heights via Horní Jílové and the old railway station. You walk past the Holý vrch along the edge of the table mountain Děčínský Sněžník and pass the Jägerbauer-Mohyla with its chapel, as well as the Thiel-Quelle, where you can get drinking water. There is a shelter at Bílý kříž, after which wooden steps lead down along the sandstone walls. Via Studenec, Horní Oldřichov and Jesenice you reach the Thun-Kapelle, the Ovčí můstek over the Jílovský potok and finally Podmokly in Děčín. The trail runs along the border between Labské pískovce and the Böhmisches Mittelgebirge, alternating between meadows and woodland.
Tip: Please bring your ID card; cash in Czech crowns is useful. Plan your return journey by bus or train in advance, as this is a one-way hike. The drinking-water spring along the trail makes a welcome rest stop in summer.
