Malerweg, Etappe 6: Schmilka bis Kurort Gohrisch – hike
The stage of the table mountains and the heart of the route for fans of Caspar David Friedrich: from the Schmilkaer Mühle you head to the Kaiserkrone and the Zirkelstein – here, on 3 June 1813, Friedrich drew the rock for his "Wanderer above the Sea of Fog". At the Wolfsberg the Malerweg meets the Caspar-David-Friedrich-Weg. The route continues to the Bauernbarock church in Reinhardtsdorf, whose paintings are regarded as the oldest depictions of Saxon Switzerland, and over the Papststein to Gohrisch.
