Malerweg, Etappe 1: Pirna-Liebethal bis Stadt Wehlen – hike
The first stage leads through the Liebethaler Grund along the Wesenitz to the large Richard-Wagner-Denkmal and the Lochmühle, where Wagner worked on Lohengrin in 1846. The route continues through the Uttewalder Grund with its Felsentor – a favourite subject of painters: Caspar David Friedrich drew it around 1801, and Ludwig Richter engraved it in 1820. The destination is Stadt Wehlen on the Elbe with its castle ruins.
