Kleiner und Großer Zschirnstein – hike
From the Zschirnsteinbaude, first follow the Hirschgrundweg into the forest, passing the Wildbretkeller. The first climb takes you up the Kleiner Zschirnstein, whose plateau edge looks out far over the foreland to the west and north-west. Then you cross over to the Große Zschirnstein, at 549 metres the highest point on the Saxon side, marked by a trigonometric survey stone. You return via the Alte Tetschener Straße, an old long-distance route to Bohemia. The surface is mixed: about a quarter asphalt, the rest natural paths and trails.
