Caspar-David-Friedrich-Weg ab Krippen – hike
This circuit follows paths on which Caspar David Friedrich walked in 1813 during his stay in Krippen. From the village, the Mittelhangweg runs along halfway up the slope above the Elbe valley, with repeated views of the river. Further up you reach the plateau of the Kaiserkrone with panoramic views in every direction, and then the Wolfsberg with far-reaching views over Reinhardtsdorf. At twelve stations, boards show the sketches the painter made on exactly that spot, and there is also a memorial stele. About half of the route follows forest paths, the rest asphalt, field tracks and farm tracks.
Tip: The paths are not cleared in winter and, according to the source, are not recommended in snow and ice. For the long circuit, please allow about five hours of pure walking time.
