Burg Tolštejn – history
The ruins of Tolštejn Castle (Tollenstein) stand in the Lusatian Mountains near Jiřetín pod Jedlovou (Sankt Georgenthal) and are first mentioned in 1337. The castle belonged in turn to the Wartenbergs, the Berka of Dubá and, from 1471, even to the Saxon princes Ernest and Albert. The Swedish general Wrangel burned it down in 1642; since 1865 there has been an inn in the ruins.
